Proceeds from the calendar support three Texas-based rescue shelters.
In recent years, we’ve seen a surge of cheeky dudeoir calendars featuring everyday guys in humorous scenarios. Now, a photographer from Texas has elevated this trend with a delightful twist—adorable rescue dogs!
Photographer Emily Parker combined her passion for rescue pups with her creative vision to produce the 2019 calendar titled “Dads and Dogs.” This whimsical calendar showcases fathers with “dad bods” (who appear to have a surprising amount of gym time) posing alongside adoptable dogs from three Dallas animal rescues: The Pawesome Crew, Dog Haven, and Friends of Fido.
“We aim to capture the genuine bond between humans and their canine companions,” Parker explains on her website. “Previously, the calendar was called ‘Heartthrobs and Hound Dogs,’ featuring more traditionally attractive men. However, I wanted to pivot towards a humorous angle while shining a spotlight on rescue dogs.”
The calendar is filled with endearing and comical images of dads and their canine pals enjoying picnics, brunches, and cozy spa days together. If you’re like me, a visual calendar with written notes is essential for family organization—especially when it includes charming men holding dogs!
Parker notes that while some of these dogs have already found homes, many others are still looking for loving families. She chose these specific rescues because of their dedicated efforts in making a meaningful impact on both the animals and the community. “For example, I selected Dog Haven and Friends of Fido because they are smaller rescues operating in rural areas, where they often lack the recognition larger shelters receive,” she shares.
“I also wanted to include The Pawesome Crew because they are strong advocates for pit bulls, working tirelessly to change the negative perceptions surrounding these loving dogs. They invest extra time in training their dogs to ensure they become the best pets possible.”
Parker hopes to showcase the fun-loving nature of rescue dogs, encouraging more people to adopt these lovable goofballs. All proceeds from the calendar will directly benefit the three chosen rescues, helping them save even more dogs throughout Texas.
She’s thrilled with the positive response to her calendar, stating, “In a world filled with negativity, we could all use a good laugh—something light-hearted to lift our spirits.” You can order the calendar on Parker’s site now, with all orders set to ship in September.
