Mira, 23, is truly a warrior as well, according to Van. “She went through so much to bring our son into the world,” he said. Mira expressed her determination, stating, “I didn’t want to miss the game for anything. I’ve watched him play since high school, college, and now the NFL, so I was dedicated to being there.”
The couple, who have been together since their teenage years, also have a five-year-old daughter, Lily, and Van has a four-year-old son, Jax. By halftime of the Super Bowl, Mira could no longer hide her contractions, prompting medical personnel to assist her out of the stadium on a stretcher. Unbeknownst to Van, who was focused on the game, Mira bravely chose to forgo hospital admission and opted for an Uber to her birthing center, where she welcomed their son just an hour later. Van was on FaceTime, witnessing the birth unfold.
“The moment we called him, I said, ‘I can’t wait any longer,’” Mira recounted. Although Van didn’t get to savor the victory with his teammates, he felt that being with Mira was far more important. “People said, ‘You didn’t even celebrate,’ but for me, it wasn’t about that.
