I don’t see myself as a traditional writer; I’m simply a blogger. My posts are crafted in my own unique voice, whether that resonates with you or not.

My partner, Alex, often teases me about my tendency to turn everything into a performance. While I don’t have the best singing voice, I infuse my writing with plenty of intonation, emphasizing the words I find significant. My hands are always animated, and my facial expressions betray every emotion I experience. It’s almost like I’m putting on a show, albeit without any formal training.

Translating my lively personality onto the computer screen can be a bit tricky, but I make an effort. For starters, I frequently use italics. When typing comments, if I’m feeling particularly lazy to format, I star my words to highlight them, similar to italics. I assume that everyone understands my intentions, but I often forget that my thoughts don’t always come across clearly.

I often write “GAH,” which I interpret as an annoyed gasp, not to be mixed up with the surprised “GASP!” I save that for genuine shock. My “Ugh” conveys pure frustration, and when I write “Doh!” it signifies a lighthearted blunder accompanied by an imaginary slap to the forehead.

When I want to express a sigh, I simply write “sigh.” If it’s a more dramatic sigh, I may italicize or capitalize it. “Whew” indicates a sigh of relief.

I also use “Woot!” in my writing, which I’ve never actually said out loud, but it feels right in text and is always followed by at least three exclamation points. It’s similar to “YAY!!” but with extra enthusiasm. I picture a high five in spirit, even though I’m not one for high fives in real life.

Then there’s the internal debate I have between “Yeah” and “Yay.” I see “Yay” as a cheer of encouragement, imagining myself clapping and using a higher pitch. “Yeah,” on the other hand, is my way of agreeing when “yes” feels too formal—imagine me nodding along.

“Wah!” is my way of whining; it shows I’m sad but still manage to keep a sense of humor. If I type “Sob,” it means I’m genuinely sobbing, not implying anything else.

I don’t often write “LOL” because it feels insincere—am I really laughing out loud? A chuckle gets a “ha!” while a giggle is a “hehe,” and a hearty laugh is “HAHAHA!” If something is sarcastically funny, it usually earns a “snort.” Occasionally, I might LMAO, although that’s usually due to a few drinks.

And of course, “Oy” is a staple expression for me.

So there you have it—all the quirks that make up my blogging style. I think it all makes perfect sense.
