Mia’s mother, Julie Anderson, recounted the incident on her own social media, stating, “My little one decided to call the police while I was at work.” At the time, Mia’s grandfather was at home but was unaware of her adventurous dialing. Julie had previously taught Mia how to call 911, but it seems the toddler didn’t fully grasp the concept of an emergency call.
While it’s vital to educate children about the appropriate use of 911, it’s also common for little ones to play with phones, often resulting in accidental calls. “We usually tell kids that it’s for emergencies only, but she’s just 2 years old,” Deputy Jenkins noted to Inside Edition. Despite the nature of the call, the interaction turned into a sweet connection. “I felt a bond with Mia because I used to be that little girl who called 911 to see police officers at my house,” Jenkins reflected. “I always admired them as a child.”
