What you see is merely a glimpse of my journey as a mother—a fleeting moment captured in time. Here’s a photo I took of my children perched on the windowsill, gazing at some birds (so wholesome, right?).
But just moments before this serene snapshot, my eldest was snatching a hockey puck from his younger brother, shouting, “He cheated!” (and yes, he is only 2). Not long after, the little one was in a crumpled heap on the floor, his puck trapped beneath the air hockey table, refusing any help with a determined, “I do it myself!”
Yet in that split second on the windowsill, they were calm, engaging in a conversation about birds and ducks, genuinely enjoying their time together. I was savoring that moment too, so I snapped a picture to share.
I also share the chaotic moments when they drive me up the wall. I often joke about their antics. Thank you for being a sounding board for my frustrations. Maybe some of you think I share too much, but I also want to highlight the beauty in our lives. For my own sake, I focus on these lovely aspects. Sure, I spend a majority of my day cleaning, cooking, mediating disputes, and sneaking chocolate. It’s therapeutic to cherish the moments of tranquility, insight, and love.
I appreciate glimpses into your lives as well—the struggles, the laughter, the heartfelt moments. Every part of your journey is beautiful, and I know you’re not sharing everything. The world feels overwhelmingly vast at times. I wish we could all sit together on our porches and share stories at the end of the day. While social media is a great tool, it can’t replace those genuine connections.
I understand that sometimes my joyful posts may feel like daggers during your tougher times, and for that, I’m truly sorry. I know it’s easy for mothers to compare their experiences with one another. If ever my posts have made you feel inadequate, I sincerely apologize. You’re free to unfollow or unfriend me—there’s no hard feelings. We’re all just navigating this journey the best we can.
You are a brave, fascinating, and remarkable mom, regardless of how you view yourself. Let’s embrace our realities. I love sharing these moments with you, but know that my life is far more complex and messy than what I choose to display—and so is yours.
And that’s perfectly okay.

In summary, while we share snippets of our lives on social media, it’s important to remember the complexities and messiness behind the scenes. Let’s continue to celebrate both the beautiful and chaotic moments together.
