As summer draws to a close, I find myself preparing for another school year. Recently, I took the time to finalize the welcome letters for my incoming kindergarten students. Each letter was personalized with a student’s name, adding a touch of warmth that only pen on paper can convey. While I was immersed in this process, I couldn’t help but think of those children who should be joining us for kindergarten this year.
I envisioned the families who expected to receive letters from new teachers filled with excitement. Instead, they are faced with the bittersweet reality of a milestone that won’t unfold as planned. So, I’ve made a heartfelt decision: this year, I will welcome these children into my classroom, even if only in spirit. Here’s the letter I’ve prepared for them.
