Dudeoir photography is becoming increasingly popular, and the latest ‘patriotic’ series is turning heads. It’s evident that 2016 has marked a significant rise in dudeoir shoots, and we’re here for it. We previously underestimated the creativity that could come from capturing men in nature through a playful lens.
Recently, photographer Lena Rivers of Creative Lens Studio shared a series of images in celebration of Flag Day. Rivers told our team that her goal was to provide some levity amidst the heavy news cycle: “I simply wanted to bring some laughter back to social media. We were floored to see over 1,000 shares within days and then get featured in a well-known magazine just four days later! The response was beyond what we imagined.”
In a delightful twist, Rivers enlisted her friend, a charming fellow named Max Thompson, who energetically posed on a scenic farm. She aptly captioned the album, “Because the gentlemen deserve some fun in the land of the free.”
“This was my first dudeoir shoot, as I primarily focus on wedding photography,” Rivers remarked. “After seeing similar concepts last winter, I felt inspired to add my unique flair. Just two days post-shoot, our images ranked among the top 20 most downloaded on Imgur, which was thrilling!”
Rivers had been contemplating this project for some time but struggled to find the right model. Friends offered their partners, but none matched her vision until she stumbled upon Max’s photo on social media. “It was like striking gold! He embodied exactly what I was looking for. He agreed to participate without any hesitation.” They experienced such joy during the shoot that Rivers often had to pause to catch her breath from laughing. “We’re both so surprised but incredibly excited that we could bring smiles to people’s faces again,” she added.
