In an unexpected turn of events, the co-hosts of The View were asked to exit the stage during a live broadcast after receiving positive COVID-19 test results. This incident occurred just moments before Vice President Kamala Harris was scheduled to make an appearance on the show. Both guest co-host Ana Rivera and panelist Sunny Thompson, who are fully vaccinated, were caught off guard by the news.

However, in a significant update shared on Monday, Joy Behar, another co-host, informed the audience that the positive results had been false alarms. Following several additional tests, it was confirmed that all panelists, including Sara James, were negative for the virus. “I’m happy to share that Sunny and Ana’s initial results were false positives, and thankfully, everyone is healthy and COVID-free,” Behar announced. “It was simply a mistake.”

Executive producer Brian Harper took time to express regret to Rivera and Thompson regarding the incident. “It was an unbelievable situation, and we discovered the truth just moments before returning on air,” Harper explained. “I was focused on ensuring the safety of our hosts and the vice president, which resulted in some awkward moments on live television.”

Thompson appreciated the understanding from viewers but also highlighted the distress caused by the early release of her test results. “It was quite uncomfortable to have my results shared publicly before I even had clarity on the situation,” she remarked, sharing that her husband had to leave the surgical theater, and her children were informed at school due to the mix-up. The incident even led to instances of harassment directed at her.

The show concluded with an invitation for Vice President Harris to return for a proper interview with all co-hosts present. “We would love to have you back, Madam Vice President,” Behar said.
