“The security guard told me, ‘You can either stay apart or live together, but you need to decide right now,’” Tom recalled. “I packed a few clothes and my toothbrush and moved in with Tom the very next day,” Sarah admitted, noting it was quite an adjustment. She soon adapted to Tom’s daily swimming regimen and even joined him. “He swims eight laps,” Sarah noted.
More than a year later, the couple continues to thrive. “Their story is like a flower that grew through the cracks during a tough time,” said Greenfield’s Executive Director, Mark Stevens. “They are like teenagers, full of life and always ready for adventure.” Tom, who describes Sarah as “so warm” and “young at heart,” can’t imagine life without her. “She brought joy back into my life after losing my wife. It’s proof that even in your 90s, love can blossom,” he added.
