The 2014 Thanksgiving Initiative: Our Achievements

I have a confession to make, dear readers: I had my doubts. In the weeks leading up to this year’s Thanksgiving Initiative, I was engulfed in anxiety about whether we could raise the necessary funds. With so many worthy causes vying for attention and so many struggling financially, I feared we would fall short.

Despite the steady flow of contributions, the number of applications was overwhelming, and we found ourselves unable to keep pace. I even began drafting apology messages, resigning myself to the reality that not every applicant would receive assistance. I just didn’t believe we could achieve our goal.

But we did.

We successfully fulfilled every single application. We raised an astounding $114,516 in under a month, providing 2,152 families with the means to enjoy Thanksgiving dinner without worry. WE DID IT!

A heartfelt thank you goes to every individual who donated or helped spread the word. Your faith in the connections made through this platform and your belief in the ability to effect change is what made this possible.

You should have received an email with details about “your” family. If you haven’t gotten it by November 21, please reach out to our support team, and they will provide you with the information promptly.

Special thanks to our partner InteliSpend Prepaid Solutions for making the gift card distribution seamless. Their collaboration was invaluable. We also extend our gratitude to Nehemiah Manufacturing Co. for their exceptional social media support and to WhatsUpMoms for creating an impressive book trailer, with proceeds benefiting the Thanksgiving Initiative.

We appreciate the backing of Glennon Melton’s organization, Together Rising, and encourage those who missed out on this initiative to check out their fantastic Holiday Hands program. Our gratitude also goes to AUL Corporation and SH International for their generosity.

On a personal note, I want to thank my incredible co-authors of the guide on holiday survival. Not only did they donate their book profits, but they also wholeheartedly embraced this cause. I am thankful for Callie, Sharon, Kristin, and Jessica for rallying the community to give. A shout-out to Samantha for her support in managing the site, and to Charisse and Cris for their pivotal role in launching this entire movement.

Thank you to Julie for managing this project efficiently, and to the board for their dedication. Finally, I want to recognize Mikki and Love for their unwavering commitment to ensuring Thanksgiving is special for those in need. Your passion and dedication inspire me every day.

Once again, thank you to everyone who contributed, shared, and supported this project, even when I had my doubts. I should have known better. Here’s to a joyful Thanksgiving for all!
