So, you’ve decided to enroll your little one in a Montessori school? Here’s a glimpse into what you might encounter, as captured in our “daily updates”:
Ava’s First Day
Ava had an amazing first day! She was very happy working independently. She’s not too keen on sharing her space just yet, but it seems to bring her joy!
She was a bit tired today! Napping during the music circle was a challenge, but we’re confident she’ll adapt in no time. 🙂 Lunch consisted of avocado, PB apples, and some quinoa.
Expressing Herself
Ava is really expressing herself! She’s definitely the most vocal in the class—if we had awards, she’d win for “loudest” for sure, though we don’t do that for reasons related to the #patriarchy!
Thank you for the spare clothes! Just a heads up, we prefer outfits without words, patterns, or bright colors, so we dressed her in a lovely organic cotton poncho. So much fun! 🙂
Playground Adventures
Ava had a blast on the playground! She’s getting really strong. Have you thought about putting up a climbing structure at home? A simple brachiation bar made from some pristine pine and a wall space of 14 feet would be perfect!
Birthday Celebrations
Happy 2nd birthday to Ava! Apologies for sending back the three dozen personalized cupcakes 🙁 But we trust you understand that the children’s special birthday walk in the sunshine is truly the best celebration! Lunch today included kale chips, kefir, and gluten-free crackers.
Challenging Gender Norms
Ava had a wonderfully androgynous day! One of the substitute teachers mistook her for a boy. So exciting to see her challenging gender norms!
Important Reminders
A reminder: we will close early this Tuesday in honor of the vernal equinox. Please pick up your children by 9:45 a.m.! Happy first quarter moon! 🙂 Lunch today included oatmeal, fish sauce, and persimmons.
Astrological Insights
Ava is becoming quite ambitious! It’s interesting because she’s a Capricorn, yet also a Virgo. Have you considered having her astrological chart done? Our assistant guide is a certified astrologist, just saying!
Funny Moments
Funny moment: Mason used Ava’s diapers to build a fort! Could you send more? For now, we’re letting her roam free in the backyard. A real free-range kiddo!
Upcoming Events
Don’t forget about the Parent Education Night tomorrow at 4 p.m.! We’ll be discussing “How to Say No Without Saying No,” along with other relevant topics. And look forward to next month’s talks on child-led potty training and crafting tiny chairs!
Health Updates
Sorry about the confusion with the rash! The full-body hives picture was intended for Livvy’s parents, obviously!
Did you see the incident report? Lucien took Ava’s shape sorter, and she gave him a gentle nip with a baby mum-mum. Just a little scratch, but if you could sign the form and refrain from sending any sharp foods for a while, that would be appreciated!
Volunteer Opportunities
Hello Montessori Pumpernickel Class parents! Don’t forget, you all need to complete 50 classroom volunteer hours by the end of the week to avoid the $400 fee! We’re looking for various talents, including a master carpenter to craft some custom reclaimed-wood bookshelves, or a lepidopterist to lead a butterfly expedition. Also, anyone interested in guiding a traditional Japanese tea ceremony? Please reach out to the office if you’re interested! More opportunities will come!!!
Classroom Shenanigans
Yet another wild day! The toddlers made good on their mutiny threat and locked us all in the closet—LOL!
Hi everyone! One of our classmates has been showing up with “pink eye” and has been “spreading” it around! Not implying anything intentional, but we will be closed indefinitely for sanitizing and to smudge the classroom with sagebrush.
