A Maryland author and mother of four has captured the internet’s attention on TikTok by sharing nostalgic behind-the-scenes photos from her appearance in a Backstreet Boys music video.
Flashback to 1999

For Devon Daniels, a 17-year-old at the time, life was particularly exciting since she was actually featured in the music video. Recently, she shared her experience on TikTok, where it quickly went viral.
Daniels, who is now 39 and an author, shared that her four kids were initially unimpressed by their mom’s brush with fame until her TikTok gained traction. In an interview with Buzzfeed, she revealed that she won her spot in the video through a radio-call-in contest—a nostalgic nod to the ’90s. Interestingly, at that time, the Backstreet Boys were still on the rise, and she wasn’t a die-hard fan. “They were popular but… it was just before the true explosion, so I wasn’t even super familiar with who the Backstreet Boys were,” she recalled.

Daniels also mentioned that Nick Carter even commented on her TikTok, adding to the thrill of the moment. In a follow-up video, she noted that it was the first time she and other fans heard the song, and they all sang along, sensing it would be a hit.
