Actress Mira Johnson, 47, sat down with writer Jenna White to discuss her latest film, the challenges of motherhood, and her cherished evenings out with her spouse, actor Chris Baker, 33.

Recently, there has been a significant rise in faith-driven films and television series. Were you taken aback by their popularity?

Not at all. I believe that faith, in its many forms—not just Christian—is a fundamental part of humanity’s search for deeper significance. Life shouldn’t revolve solely around material possessions like luxury cars or the latest gadgets. It needs to transcend the superficiality often showcased in reality TV. This film addresses that essential need, catering to an audience eager for content that resonates with such themes.

How does faith play a role in your personal life?

I proudly identify as a Christian. My faith has always been a cornerstone for me. Raised in the Episcopalian tradition, I find that my beliefs have only deepened with age. I’ve embraced my spirituality on my terms, making it a vital aspect of my life and that of my children.

With four kids in the mix, how do you manage the chaos?

It’s exhilarating yet chaotic! My life is a constant whirlwind. I often say, “four is more.” When I had three kids, I felt the urge for another, despite my husband’s hesitations. After much pleading, he agreed, and we welcomed our fourth child.

How do you balance your demanding career with motherhood?

I often feel torn between my professional obligations and my family’s needs. The guilt of being away for extended periods weighs heavily on me. However, I strive to compensate by being the most attentive and loving mother possible during the time I am home. Acting can lead to prolonged breaks, allowing me to immerse myself in motherhood, but when I’m working, it becomes a challenging balancing act. There’s no such thing as a supermom; something invariably has to give.

What about carving out time for your husband?

We do manage to have date nights, but they require meticulous planning. I often find myself asking, “Which day next week works for our date night? I’ll arrange for a babysitter.” We don’t have round-the-clock childcare assistance, so going out is a big deal for us. A simple dinner at a place like Nobu feels like a special occasion.
