Meghan Markle’s former colleague from Suits, Alex Turner, has had enough of the negative scrutiny directed at the Duchess and has chosen to speak out in her defense. With Markle’s highly anticipated interview with Oprah approaching, Turner took to Twitter to express his support for the expectant mother.
This week, friends, family, and celebrities united to defend Markle as the royal family decided to publicly address allegations of bullying from 2018. Turner remarked, “Like many others, I’ve watched in disbelief as she has navigated the past few years.”
He detailed how he observed her journey as she fell in love, relocated to a new country, and faced relentless media attacks. “It was disheartening to see the barrage of racist, defamatory, clickbait nonsense directed at her from various media outlets globally,” he stated. “However, I was always aware that Meghan possessed a resilience that many underestimated.”
Turner also highlighted the timing of the Palace’s renewed criticisms, especially during the lead-up to the Winfrey interview. “This latest chapter is a glaring example of the audacity of an institution that has long exceeded its usefulness, is running low on credibility, and appears devoid of any decency,” he asserted.
In January 2020, the Sussexes announced their intent to step back from senior royal duties, which they confirmed earlier this year. Turner, who is recognized for his role as Mike Ross alongside Markle, added, “During our nearly ten years working together on Suits, Meghan was always a kind, supportive, and joyful presence. She remained true to that character even as fame and power surrounded her.”
Following the Palace’s announcement of an investigation into the bullying claims, a representative for Markle expressed her sadness over the latest attack on her character, especially as someone who has experienced bullying herself.
Turner concluded with a powerful statement, “This is yet another glaring example of an institution that has lost its relevance, credibility, and moral compass. Leave Meghan alone; she’s beyond your league.”
