2020 has undoubtedly been a tumultuous year in every conceivable way. As we approach the end of the year, it’s clear that many of us are still struggling to adapt to the challenges this pandemic has presented. The uncertainty has left us all taking it one day at a time, with no clear picture of what lies ahead.

For numerous individuals, their romantic lives have transformed into something unrecognizable. You might love your partner dearly, yet find yourself irritated by the sound of yet another conference call—or the crunching of an apple might just push you over the edge.

Perhaps your relationship was precariously balanced, and this pandemic either pulled you closer together or caused you to drift apart. It’s important to recognize that we are not wired to be with one person constantly nor are we accustomed to prolonged periods without human interaction or physical touch.

Whether you’re in a relationship, single, or somewhere in between, “Love in Lockdown” is a podcast you can’t miss. We all enjoy hearing others share their experiences for various reasons—it normalizes our feelings and makes us feel less isolated. So plug in your earbuds and listen to couples and individuals recount their unique experiences during these unprecedented times.

This podcast series, created by Alex Morgan and produced by Sarah Thompson, is available across all podcast platforms with new episodes released weekly.

I had the opportunity to chat with John Richards, the Executive Producer of “Love in Lockdown” and Managing Director of Paradiso Studio. He shared how the team had just opened their LA office days before lockdowns were enforced across the city and much of the world.

“It was quite overwhelming. As a podcast production company, we were better equipped than most to adapt to a socially distanced environment, and we were excited by the challenge,” he noted. However, John also faced his own struggles, balancing the launch of a new business while caring for his young child under the lack of usual support systems—a situation that undoubtedly strained his relationship.

Yet, he was determined not to let that deter him. He recognized that people worldwide were facing similar challenges, which was both remarkable and historic. “We wanted to explore how others were managing, as sharing these stories provides an intimate connection that only audio can offer,” he explained.

Understanding that not everyone’s experience is the same, diversity was a critical aspect of the podcast. “We aimed to showcase a range of couples that truly represented the wider population in terms of age, ethnicity, profession, sexual orientation, and relationship status,” he added.

The team worked diligently to find a variety of couples and singles willing to share their stories, and they were fortunate to discover individuals who were open, articulate, and self-aware.

Without revealing too much, I had the chance to listen to the first few episodes (episode two being my personal favorite), and I found immense comfort in hearing real people share their coping mechanisms during this challenging time. “Love in Lockdown” is insightful, humorous, and full of surprises. Each episode offers fresh perspectives and advice on navigating this period—whether you’re dating, ending a relationship, or seeking to maintain your current one.

We’re all living through this, and our relationships are undeniably impacted. So why not tune in and hear from those who have bravely shared their stories? You won’t regret it. For more on pregnancy and home insemination, you can check out this insightful post here.
