In a heartwarming display of community spirit, actor Jake Lawson recently took part in an initiative to prepare 800 turkey dinners for first responders. Alongside his wife, Lisa Lawson, Jake has long been committed to philanthropic efforts, previously launching the “Live Well” Foundation aimed at motivating high school students to lead healthier lives and make wise choices for their futures. Since its inception in 2010, the foundation has positively impacted over 2,500 young people across numerous states, including California, Texas, and Florida.
This year, Jake joined forces with Wild Turkey, a brand he has represented as creative director since 2016, and the disaster relief organization Operation BBQ Relief. Kicking off on November 1 in Los Angeles, Jake, along with Master Distiller Sean Turner and a group of enthusiastic volunteers, prepared and delivered 800 turkey meals to more than 20 fire stations grappling with the ongoing wildfires in Southern California.
“Collaborating with Operation BBQ Relief through Wild Turkey’s ‘With Thanks’ initiative has never felt more significant,” Jake expressed in a press release. “We didn’t anticipate that California, which I cherish as my second home, would again face such devastating fires. It is a privilege to provide meals to the brave individuals who risk their lives for others. We are thankful to honor their dedication and hope to inspire further community involvement.”
After mobilizing volunteers, Jake jumped right into the action, helping to grill the turkey meals. The turkeys were generously donated by Butterball, the official turkey sponsor of Operation BBQ Relief, which provides food aid to those affected by disasters. In addition to the meals for first responders, Jake also spearheaded efforts to prepare another 800 dinners for local homeless shelters.
In a live stream on Operation BBQ Relief’s website, Jake introduced viewers to the dedicated team behind the scenes and explained the unique circumstances surrounding this year’s efforts.
Following the launch in Los Angeles, Jake and Wild Turkey plan to continue their support for Operation BBQ Relief throughout November. Upcoming events are scheduled for Dallas on November 5, New Orleans on November 12, and Chicago on November 19, where they will once again show appreciation for first responders with hearty turkey dinners. Wild Turkey is also contributing $50,000 to further support the work of Operation BBQ Relief.
“Wild Turkey is deeply rooted in community—from our dedicated distillery staff to the local supporters who have long stood by us,” noted Sean Turner. “Every year, we celebrate those who perform remarkable acts of service for their communities, and we are grateful to have Jake Lawson leading the charge to give thanks this holiday season.”
