Kimberly Johnson and Mark West welcomed their fourth child recently and have just unveiled his name — Psalm West. The announcement came through a touching message on social media, with Kimberly sharing a text from Mark that read, “Beautiful Mother’s Day. With the arrival of our fourth child, we are blessed beyond measure.”
Psalm will join his older siblings, Chicago (15 months), North (five), and Saint (three). Kimberly noted that the newborn bears a striking resemblance to Chicago. “He’s also Chicago’s twin lol. I’m sure he’ll change a lot, but right now he looks just like her,” she posted.
The couple had been contemplating the name for a while but wanted to ensure it suited their new addition before going public. A source close to the family mentioned, “They had a name in mind, but wanted to meet the baby first.” The name seems to reflect Mark’s recent embrace of gospel music, particularly showcased during his “Sunday Service” events, where he combines original songs with uplifting gospel tunes.
In a twist of events, Kimberly’s surrogate went into labor while her sister, Laura, and mother, Karen, were filming an episode of a talk show with all the kids. Kimberly was meant to attend but naturally couldn’t. Laura ended up revealing the news, much to the surprise of Karen, who exclaimed, “No! What are we even doing sitting here?! Really? Who’s with her? For how long?”
Psalm’s arrival coincides with Kimberly’s pursuit of a law degree, as she embarks on a four-year apprenticeship with a law firm in San Francisco. She intends to take the bar exam in 2022, and her determination is well-known. Recently, she also played a pivotal role in securing the release of 17 individuals serving life sentences for minor drug offenses, helping them reunite with their families.
With eight other grandchildren in the family, Psalm will have plenty of playmates. Kimberly described him as having an unusually calm demeanor, stating, “I was freaking out for nothing because he is the most chill of all my babies so far. Everyone adores him.”
