Hey friends! So, have you seen the new trailer for Trolls World Tour? It’s packed with an incredible lineup of musical stars ready to engage in a dance-off for the fate of music itself! While rock music is great, a world where it’s the only genre feels a bit limiting, right? We want a blend of pop, country, classical, and blues. That’s the mission of our favorite trolls in this sequel—they must unite different musical tribes to prevent a future where only one genre reigns supreme.
Returning for this exciting adventure are Justin Timberlake and Anna Kendrick, voicing Branch and Poppy. They uncover that they’re just part of one of six different troll tribes, each representing a unique musical style—think funk, country, techno, classical, pop, and rock. However, trouble brews in the rock realm. The nefarious Queen Barb (voiced by the hilarious Rachel Bloom) and her father, King Thrash (the iconic Ozzy Osbourne), are scheming to capture magical guitar strings from each musical territory. As Queen Barb sinisterly declares, “I’m going to unite the six strings and obliterate all music—except for rock!”
Of course, our heroic trolls can’t let that happen, so Branch and Poppy rally their pals to thwart Queen Barb’s plans and preserve the rich variety of music in their world. During their quest, they’ll explore vibrant new lands and their distinct sounds.
A musical sequel to the original Trolls movie is such a brilliant concept, especially considering the hit song Justin created for the first installment. “Can’t Stop the Feeling” was not only nominated for an Oscar but also won a Grammy and took over the charts that summer. If the sequel includes more original tracks, count us in for opening night! With Timberlake on board to produce the soundtrack, we’re sure to be treated to some amazing tunes.
And let’s talk about the cast! Alongside Timberlake, Kendrick, Bloom, and Osbourne, the film features voices from incredible artists like Mary J. Blige, George Clinton, and Anderson .Paak in the funk segment, Kelly Clarkson in the country tribe, and J Balvin in a reggae setting. Plus, the renowned conductor Gustavo Dudamel lends his talents to the classical segment, known as “Trollzart.” Other notable voices include James Corden, Sam Rockwell, Kenan Thompson, Jamie Dornan, Flula Borg, and Anthony Ramos.
Trolls World Tour is set to hit theaters in 3D on April 17, and we can’t wait to see all the colorful escapades!
