In a recent ruling, a judge has turned down Britney Spears’ request to oust her father, Jamie Spears, from his role as her conservator. This decision comes just after the pop icon delivered a heartfelt and distressing testimony about the hardships she has faced under the conservatorship.

Britney had filed a motion last November, seeking to replace her father with Bessemer Trust, a group of legal professionals who would oversee her finances and medical decisions. Jamie has held the conservatorship since 2008, with a brief hiatus in 2019 due to his health issues. While the judge did permit Bessemer Trust to join the conservatorship as co-conservators alongside Jamie, the push to make them the sole conservator was denied. However, the door remains open for future attempts to remove Jamie from his position.

The court also remarked that Britney is “substantially unable to manage his or her financial resources or to resist fraud or undue influence,” raising eyebrows among fans who question how she can handle a demanding performance schedule while being deemed incapable of managing her own finances.

This latest ruling is a continuation of Britney’s ongoing struggle, particularly following her emotional statements in court where she expressed fear of her father and a desire to cease performing until he is no longer in control. Jamie has stated that he has lost contact with Britney over the years despite maintaining his conservatorship role.

During her testimony, Britney shared, “After I’ve lied and told the whole world I’m OK and I’m happy, it’s a lie. I’m traumatized. I’m not happy. I can’t sleep. I’m so angry.” The judge’s decision, signed on June 30, was reportedly not influenced by her recent testimony, as Britney has yet to file a formal request to terminate her conservatorship.
