Jessie K, the talented singer, is undeterred in her quest for motherhood after a challenging journey. Following a miscarriage in November 2021, she remains hopeful and committed to becoming a parent. In a recent conversation with host Mia Davidson on her podcast, Breaking Boundaries, Jessie shared her experiences and aspirations regarding motherhood.

Despite being diagnosed with endometriosis in 2014 and being told that conceiving might not be possible, Jessie decided to pursue single parenting. Last year, she bravely ventured into this path, only to face the heartbreak of a miscarriage. However, she is determined to try again. “I definitely want to have a baby in the next couple of years,” she expressed. “No matter how it happens—whether it’s natural, through surrogacy, IVF, or adoption—I’m open to all possibilities. I just have such a strong maternal instinct.”

Reflecting on Her Pregnancy Experience

Reflecting on her pregnancy experience, Jessie recalled, “I embarked on this journey alone,” admitting that she was surprised by how quickly she became pregnant. After her endometriosis diagnosis, doctors had suggested managing the pain or opting for a hysterectomy, but she confidently told them, “I will have children, thank you very much.”

Jessie explained that she is very attuned to her body due to past health issues, including a heart condition in her childhood, a stroke at 18, and panic attacks. One morning, she sensed something was off with her pregnancy and went for an ultrasound alone. The doctor’s silence prompted her to ask directly for the truth, leading to the heartbreaking revelation of a weak heartbeat, which indicated complications. “It felt like my whole world went numb,” she recounted, describing the emotional aftermath.

At the same time, she was preparing to return to the stage, thinking, “Can I still perform tomorrow?” Jessie took to social media to share her loss, a decision she now reflects on with mixed feelings. “I don’t know if I regret that or not. I didn’t shield myself from the world,” she confessed. “I’ve written songs about my experience,” she added, emphasizing her journey and the power of discussing difficult topics.

Gratitude for the Experience

Despite the outcome of her pregnancy, Jessie remains grateful for the experience. “It was a life-changing moment for me. I was told I wouldn’t be able to do this, and to experience even the morning sickness was something that could bring me to tears of joy. I believe it will happen for me one day.”
