Collins’s four-year-old has a one-of-a-kind perspective on beauty.
Many parents have experienced the colorful chaos that comes with letting their little ones play makeup artist. However, few have achieved the eye-catching masterpiece that Jenna Collins did when her daughter, Lily, took the reins this past weekend.
“This is the future of beauty, folks. Just you wait,” Jenna declared on Instagram, showcasing Lily’s artistic flair. “Her best work, if I do say so myself!”
While we may not have seen Lily’s prior creations, if they’re anything like this whimsical artwork, we would gladly book her for all our special occasions: first days of school, parent-teacher meetings, and holiday gatherings at the in-laws, to name a few.
Lily opted for a lavender palette, applying it generously across her mom’s eyes, lips, and forehead. She added a vibrant blue streak, which created a playful circle around a bold dab of black on the center of Jenna’s forehead.
Next, Lily exhibited her unconventional approach by adding a playful line of brown dots down the bridge of her mother’s nose. Most audacious, however, were the brown streaks resembling smudges emerging from Jenna’s nostrils, trailing down to her upper lip—a daring look that certainly says, “What’s wrong with this?”
To brighten the ensemble, Lily applied a generous swatch of white beneath Jenna’s right eye, a smaller dab under the left, and two sizable globs hanging off the right side of her face in a delightfully avant-garde manner.
For a splash of color, Lily added two vibrant green circles on her mom’s cheeks and a bold red highlight on the tip of her nose—this festive combo is destined to become our go-to “holiday party” style. Of course, it’s all topped off with a sprinkle of sparkles predominantly layered on the right eyebrow.
But the real stroke of genius from little Lily is the blue and red tracheotomy necklace adorning her mother’s neck. We’d say, “we’ll take two,” but sadly, tracheotomy necklaces are one-of-a-kind.
Jenna beautifully reminds us of the joy in embracing the messiness of life, letting go of our obsession with perfection, especially when it comes to beauty. It’s crucial for mothers and daughters to show that appearances don’t always have to be polished, and that makeup can be a fun, carefree expression rather than a serious endeavor.
