Venturing out with two-year-old triplets garners attention akin to that of a circus parade or a flash mob. Beyond the usual remark of “you’ve got your hands full,” I often hear the title “Supermom” tossed my way. Honestly, I feel a bit uneasy with this label. People frequently ask, “How do you manage?” My truthful response is, “Just like you do — you keep pushing through.”

And that’s the reality. It doesn’t matter whether you have one child or five, whether they are singletons or quadruplets. Dirty bottoms require clean diapers, empty cups need refilling, and boo-boos get kisses. Laundry may get done, even if it’s not folded (wrinkles don’t kill anyone). Meals make it to the table, and by some miracle, we survive each day with a full household, and (occasionally) an empty sink.

Other moms I meet often downplay their struggles, convinced that their daily routines must be simpler compared to the chaos in my home. “I only have one, and it’s tough!” they say, or, “I have three, but they’re not all the same age!” They assume I possess some extraordinary strength or a secret to keeping everything together. Surely, they think, a mere mortal couldn’t achieve such feats of motherhood.

While I typically dismiss these claims of superhuman abilities, let’s start a new trend. Picture me tearing open my button-down shirt to reveal a food-stained “S” on my tank top (the one I wear to prevent my twin skin from spilling over the waistband of my mom jeans). Yep, you caught me. I’m Supermom!

You’re “just” a working mom of a newborn, juggling four feedings a night before dashing off to the office. You thrive on twelve minutes of sleep and a cold piece of toast. You even manage to apply lipstick and wear matching shoes. You navigate through the day in a daze yet remain effective at work, then return home to do it all over again. You know what that means? You’re Supermom!

You’re “just” pregnant with your second child while caring for your first. All you crave is to hurl. Or sleep. Or maybe hurl yourself into sleep. But you can’t, because your little one is wide awake, hungry, cranky, and has just experienced a massive blowout. Oh, the smell! Yet somehow, breakfast is served, and you manage to keep yours down while the world keeps spinning. If you’re not Supermom, I don’t know who is.

You’re “just” a mom with two kids under two, trying to manage a wobbly infant and an active toddler. How do you keep one child off the dining room table while ensuring the baby stays fed? How do you balance their happiness with zero time for yourself? You know how? You’re Supermom!

You’re “just” a stay-at-home mom to three young kids, just like me. But while I sit here writing, you are vaulting over baby gates with a toddler in hand, chasing after your kindergartener who forgot her lunchbox, all while your three-year-old decorates the family dog with a permanent marker. You accomplish more housework before noon than most people do in an entire week. And forget about naps—there’s always someone needing supervision. All in a day’s work for Supermom!

You’re “just” the mother of older kids: one in high school and another starting college. You still have laundry and cooking to manage, but now you’re also stressed over car insurance and tuition. Your heart must be in several places at once. Do your kids realize how much you worry? No, they’re too busy living their lives—all thanks to Supermom.

Every devoted mother is a Supermom. There’s no comparison of hard or easy. It doesn’t matter if you’re you, or me, or the woman down the street with two rambunctious boys on dirt bikes. Rip open that button-down, flaunt your “S,” and declare it with pride. “I’m Supermom!” Because you truly are.

In summary, every mom is a Supermom in her own right, juggling countless tasks with grace and resilience. Embrace that title, because you’ve earned it.
