From The Confessional: Pro-Birth Advocates Frustrate Us

One of the most frustrating aspects of the ongoing debate surrounding abortion and pro-life rhetoric in our society is the glaring hypocrisy that permeates it. The so-called “pro-lifers,” who fervently stand in opposition to a woman’s right to choose, claim they want to “save a life!” Yet, they often support politicians who neglect to provide essential support like food, clothing, or healthcare to that same woman after childbirth.

These “pro-lifers” love to preach from their moral high ground, declaring abortion as “murder,” while simultaneously following anti-science leaders who refuse to take basic precautions during a pandemic. Even more troubling are the judgmental types who voice their disdain for abortion until they are faced with an unexpected pregnancy in their own family—then suddenly, the narrative shifts, and the situation is conveniently swept under the rug.

What’s more, these individuals often refuse to engage in constructive dialogue. When you attempt to share that organizations like Planned Parenthood offer vital services such as birth control and healthcare to prevent unwanted pregnancies, they dismiss you. Apparently, facts are too intimidating for them. This cycle of ignorance and oppression of women’s rights continues unabated.

I cannot fathom being okay with harm coming to others, all under the guise of “freedom,” particularly from those who claim to be “pro-life.” It’s infuriating.

Confessionals: The Hypocrisy Unveiled

  1. The Illusion of Pro-Life: Many self-proclaimed Christians assert they are pro-life, yet their actions often contradict this claim. They advocate for policies that could lead to more death and suffering. It’s a blatant hypocrisy that cannot be ignored.
  2. Political Disgrace: As a resident of Arizona, I feel embarrassed by the reckless leadership that prioritizes ideology over human life. It’s clear to me that their pro-life stance is nothing more than a façade.
  3. COVID-19 Revelation: The pandemic has highlighted the inconsistency in the pro-life argument. If one genuinely cared about saving lives, they would adhere to public health guidelines and support vaccinations.
  4. The Real Definition of Pro-Life: We need to stop labeling anti-abortion advocates as “pro-life.” True pro-life advocates would also express concern over issues like the opioid epidemic and support for social safety nets for unwanted children.
  5. Refusal to Acknowledge Suffering: The hypocrisy extends to the plight of marginalized communities. If you are truly pro-life, you should care about the lives of all individuals, regardless of their background.

Despite the frustrations, I still hold hope for a future where younger generations recognize the flaws in the pro-life argument. Unfortunately, women across the country are still fighting for the right to control their own bodies. We must continue this struggle, not only for ourselves but for future generations, ensuring that the term “pro-life” genuinely represents the advocacy for all lives, rather than a euphemism for the oppression of women.

In summary, the pro-life movement, as it stands today, often fails to embody the values it claims to uphold. The hypocrisy is glaring, as many who advocate for the unborn neglect to consider the well-being of living individuals. It is imperative that we advocate for comprehensive support for all lives, not just those that have yet to be born.
