Foster Parent Desperately Seeks Home for This Wild Pup

There’s a dog in need of a forever home, and his foster parent is so overwhelmed, she’s launched a whole website to expedite his adoption. This isn’t your run-of-the-mill pet adoption ad; it’s refreshingly raw and candid.

Meet Max

Max is a 1-year-old mixed breed from Houston, whose foster parent, Laura, is on a mission to find him a new family because she’s exhausted. She likened the process to hunting for a rare toy during the holidays—challenging and frustrating. Max is undoubtedly lovable, but he’s got a bit too much energy for the household.

According to his adoption site, PleaseAdoptMax.com, “Laura has several other small pets who just can’t handle Max’s hyper personality. We’re all worn out. Not that we don’t adore him, but we’re simply TIRED. It’s as if he consumed ALL OF OUR COFFEE.” The use of capital letters speaks volumes.

Potential Adopters

Potential adopters should be ready to match his enthusiasm—perhaps you’re into high-energy workouts—plus be willing to train him to direct that energy positively. He’s a hefty 60 pounds of spirited fun “with eyes that are like a stormy sea. Unfortunately, that sea also sunk the Titanic.” Max is familiar with basic commands like ‘sit,’ ‘down,’ ‘shake,’ and ‘why are you so hyper? Stop chewing that and get in your crate!’

If you have kids, dogs, or cats, he might fit right in—or maybe not. The ad simply states, “It’s a possibility.”

Testimonials

Laura has included some amusing testimonials on the site, such as, “If I wasn’t so lazy, my kids would adore Max,” and “This dog is like a fitness coach on a caffeine high.”

On the bright side, if you’re considering adopting Max, know this: “He loves to keep you company no matter what you’re doing,” Laura writes. “Cooking? He’ll stand right between your legs and trip you while you’re holding sharp objects.”

She’s also uploaded several videos to showcase that he’s kennel-trained, accepts treats gently, and, thankfully, has been neutered. At least that means no unexpected puppies to find homes for later on.

A Unique Approach

Laura shared with us that creating a special site for Max’s adoption was a natural step, given her longstanding volunteer work with the Houston rescue organization, Abandoned Animal Rescue. And since she already manages their website, why not do something unique to help Max find the perfect family?

Consider Adopting Max

If you’re interested in a dog who will undoubtedly keep you entertained for the next couple of decades, please consider adopting Max. Also, if you know anyone looking for a talented writer with exceptional marketing skills, Laura is currently on the job hunt. Hint hint.
