Hey friends! So, let’s chat about last night’s dramatic episode of The Voice. Season 17 has been one for the books, showcasing some truly incredible talent while also throwing us some unexpected curveballs—like when the talented Myra Hudson was sent home. The eliminations last night were particularly tough to watch, as fans had to say goodbye to four beloved contestants. However, in a historic twist, every coach still has a singer making it to the finale, which is pretty exciting!
As the host, Ryan Davis, announced the first saved contestant, it was no shocker: Emma Lane. Her stunning vocals definitely set her apart from the competition and she’s secured her spot in the final four—seriously, she could easily light up Broadway with those pipes! Next up to be saved was Tyler Smith, who, at 6’3″, continues to captivate audiences with his performances.
The third contestant to move forward was Maya Lynn, which also came as no surprise to loyal fans. She’s delivered unforgettable renditions like “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough” and “Somebody to Love,” and it’s been a joy to watch her journey. However, the choices for the final three contestants singing for America’s vote left many fans scratching their heads.
If you missed the performances, you need to check them out ASAP! The contestants took the stage in both duets and solo acts, reminding everyone just why they deserve to be there. Emma Lane (Team Max) nailed her performance of “I Will Survive,” a classic that brought fresh energy. Maya Lynn (Team Blake) and Liam Cruz (Team Ava) rocked out together on “I Want You Back,” leaving fans debating whether they could take the title from the duo of Sunny & Jade (Team Kelly). Meanwhile, in her solo, Leah Harper (Team Gwen) absolutely shined with her version of “Someone Like You.”
Now, let’s talk about the bottom three who were at risk of elimination: Sunny & Jade, Leah Harper, and Emma Lane. This meant Team Max, and our resident “Most Charming Coach,” lost two-thirds of his team in rapid succession, leaving fans astounded. The biggest shocker was that Leah was even in jeopardy, prompting America to step in and save her, which was a relief for those who recognize her as one of the standout singers of the season.
In the end, the right choice was made, and Leah is heading to the finale, which will air on Monday, December 16 and Tuesday, December 17. For the first time in the show’s history, every coach has a chance at winning! Now it’s really anyone’s game—though I’m rooting for Emma Lane to take home the crown!
