Can you do self-insemination at home ?
Disneyland is stirring up quite the buzz with its latest food offering, the pickle corn dog. As the park gears up for its reopening after a lengthy closure due to the pandemic, Disney is clearly embracing creativity — or perhaps chaos — with its new culinary creations. Among these is a panko-crusted dill pickle corn dog that has people talking, and I’m surprisingly all for it!
In a recent post titled “Disney Parks Best Bites” on Disney’s official blog, the company announced a series of outrageous new treats set to debut this month. These include a frozen raspberry lemonade crowned with cotton candy, a chiffon cake designed to look like a beehive, and, of course, the star of the show — the pickle corn dog.
This hefty creation, priced at $13, features a dill pickle encased in panko and deep-fried. While it has received mixed reviews online, I’m intrigued enough to give it a shot. I mean, pickles and corn dogs? Sounds like a delightful combination! However, the addition of peanut butter served on the side is where I draw the line. Who in their right mind would dip pickles and corn dogs in peanut butter? No thanks.
Currently, this quirky treat is only available at the Blue Ribbon Corn Dogs Cart in Downtown Disney District in Anaheim, California, but like many popular Disney snacks, it could soon spread to parks on both coasts. I might just have to make the drive to Downtown Disney to try it out!
Initial reactions to this new item are surprisingly mixed, especially since Disney treats typically garner rave reviews. Disney Food Blog confirms that the pickle dog is available but has not shared any tasting notes. One Disney enthusiast mentioned on Twitter that her friends found it to be “extremely good,” while another reviewer on Instagram claimed it was surprisingly amazing, justifying the $13 price tag.
“I’ll say this — this sounds like one of the weirdest corn dogs I’ve ever heard of, BUT it worked for me!” shared @Foodatdisneyland. “The peanut butter wasn’t the best, but it complemented the corn dog well enough. Without it, it still tasted great. Overall, I got strong corn dog and fried pickle vibes. 4/5 rating.”
A four out of five? Count me in! While I don’t expect my corn dogs to earn Michelin stars, I’m all for trying this adventurous snack. Head over to Downtown Disney to taste it for yourself or cross your fingers that this quirky dish becomes a permanent fixture on the menu across the parks.
