I want to take a moment to acknowledge the dedication you show each morning as you leave for work. Your efforts to support our family while I manage our home and care for the children do not go unnoticed. I genuinely appreciate the long hours you put in to ensure we have everything we need. Thank you for all that you do.
Let’s Talk About Your Alarm Clock
However, there’s something we need to address—your alarm clock. Can we please agree that it’s time to turn it off?
I completely understand that you’re tired. Both of us have been running on fumes since the kids came along. But let’s be clear: it’s not my responsibility that you stayed up late binge-watching videos instead of getting some much-needed rest. And those four glasses of water before bed? Not my fault you’re up every hour! Yet somehow, I’m the one suffering every morning.
When your alarm goes off, I can tolerate it once. You hit snooze, and I usually manage to drift back to sleep. But then it goes off again—eight minutes later—again and again until I’m filled with a frustration that keeps me awake for who knows how long. And just when I think I might get a little extra sleep, your classic rock blaring from your side of the bed ruins it.
The Kids Are Affected Too
Let’s not forget about the kids. They often join us in bed at night, and when your alarm goes off repeatedly, they wake up too. This creates a less than pleasant morning for all of us. You get to leave for work, while the rest of us are stuck at home, grumpy and sleep-deprived.
If you’re going to set your alarm for an extra 40 minutes, then why not just set it for later and get that sleep you need? I’m not a hotel staff member here to give wake-up calls, serve room service, or gently nudge you awake. I’m just a tired mom who dreams of a morning where everyone wakes up on time and in a good mood.
A Request for Cooperation
Please, if you value my sanity and the happiness of our children, do us all a favor and stop hitting the snooze button. You’ll feel better for it, and so will the rest of us. Thank you for understanding.
