Celebrity Book Alert
Ryan and Danielle Carter have created a delightful children’s book centered around the joy of music. Titled There’s A Rock Concert In My Room, this enchanting story features characters inspired by their two daughters.
Illustrated by Casey Harper, the book follows a young girl named Emma, who has a passion for singing and playing guitar but struggles with stage fright before her school talent show. To help her overcome her nerves, her parents and younger sister throw an impromptu rock concert at home, reminding everyone about the joy of music and creativity.
The inspiration for the story comes from real-life experiences with their daughters, Mia and Ella, aged 9 and 6. “Our girls faced similar anxiety during a recent dance recital,” Ryan shared. “They were anxious and over-rehearsing, which took the fun out of it. So, Danielle organized a lively dance party in our living room to help them relax and enjoy the moment.”
Although the idea for the book began before 2020, the actual writing process turned into a family project during the pandemic. “Everyone experiences nerves,” Danielle noted. “It’s comforting to see that others feel the same way. We aimed to teach young readers how to let go and enjoy themselves.”
While the girls inspired the narrative, they were not involved in the book’s creation. Instead, they enjoyed a surprise unveiling once the project was complete. “We wanted to wait until it was finished to show them,” Danielle explained. “We were excited to finally hold the book in our hands.”
The characters in the story may not be exact replicas of Mia and Ella, but their daughters enjoyed identifying similarities and discussing familiar toys and details featured in the book.
Danielle emphasized that the book opens up important conversations with children, especially those who may not express their feelings openly. “Our girls are quite different in how they communicate,” she said. “Our oldest shares her feelings, while our youngest is more reserved. Books like this help create a space for dialogue — it encourages them to open up.”
Ryan added that the core message revolves around enjoying the process of performance and artistry. “It’s about having fun and remembering that not everything is so serious,” he said. “While practice and achieving goals are essential, feeling comfortable and enjoying the moment is even more crucial.”
Will there be more children’s books from the Carter family? “We would love to continue this journey,” Danielle expressed. “We enjoy sharing stories based on our experiences as parents.”
