In an inspiring display of compassion, college students are donning the attire of beloved Disney princesses to uplift children battling serious health challenges. This initiative has the power to turn a gloomy hospital day into a moment filled with joy and wonder.

The non-profit organization, A Moment of Magic, was founded by students at the University of Riverside, Jessica Taylor and Mia Anderson. The idea sparked when Taylor was captivated by the enchanting world of Disney during a viewing of Frozen. “I felt a deep connection with the characters and realized I could embody the spirit of Elsa,” Taylor shared in an interview. “That moment led me to the idea of combining my passions: children, advocacy for pediatric cancer, and the magic of princesses.” Excited, she reached out to Anderson, who eagerly agreed to join the cause.

To kickstart their project, they launched a GoFundMe campaign, which successfully raised around $2,000 for costumes, wigs, and other essential supplies. A Moment of Magic has expanded its reach to 12 states, fueled by a dedicated team of approximately 40 volunteers. For hospitals they cannot physically visit, they connect with patients via Skype or FaceTime to share smiles and laughter.

In a heartwarming video, Taylor, dressed as Elsa, expressed her nerves before entering the hospital. “Every time I step into a hospital, I worry about whether I’ll be enough—pretty enough, smart enough, or thin enough. But it’s the children’s smiles that give me strength,” she mentioned, evoking an emotional response.

Despite the challenges of busy college lives, their commitment to this cause drives them forward. “I truly believe in the power of small, simple acts that create significant change,” Anderson remarked. “This project is a testament to how collective efforts can yield immense positivity.”

Taylor shared her ambitions, stating, “I want to make as many dreams come true for these kids as possible. My hope is that our story inspires others to perform acts of kindness, whether it’s as small as holding a door open or contributing to our mission.”

The initiative does incur various costs, including parking fees, transportation, and gifts for the children they visit. If you’re interested in supporting A Moment of Magic or wish to learn more, consider visiting their donation page at www.amomentofmagic.org/donate.
