Emily Stone, who has a 3-year-old daughter with her partner Jake Thompson, recently discussed her choice to postpone motherhood during an interview with the Sunday Times. Reflecting on her journey, she expressed satisfaction with her decision to wait until age 42 to welcome her child, stating, “I’m so relieved I didn’t have a kid at 30. I know I would have felt resentful about what I had to sacrifice, but now I’m genuinely happy to make those sacrifices.”

She elaborated that having experienced life fully, from attending various events to traveling to numerous countries, she feels equipped to focus on her daughter. “I’m now 100 percent ready and willing to devote my attention to her. At 30, I simply wouldn’t have been prepared to do it right,” Stone explained.

Emily and Jake welcomed their daughter in November 2018, and they have been very protective of her privacy. They do not share images of her face or disclose her name and birthday. This isn’t the first time Stone has opened up about the impact of motherhood on her perspective regarding her career and life. In a previous interview with a health magazine, she shared, “Motherhood changes everything. It’s a cliché, but absolutely true. My approach to work has shifted; I cherish it more now, but I also consider if it fits into my schedule and if it’s worth it.”

Stone also mentioned the challenges of balancing work with family life, especially with Thompson often on location for his own projects. “It’s difficult, and it’s likely why I work less now. Family dynamics change everything—you want to keep everyone together,” she noted.
