Today, my family had lunch at a cemetery. It might sound strange, but the experience felt necessary as I yearn for a sense of togetherness that has been marred by grief.
My daughter, Ava, who passed away at four months old, has been resting in this serene place for a year and a half. As her second birthday approaches, the weight of her absence grows heavier. I felt an urge to be close to her today.
I gathered the toddlers, packed a few blankets, and made a quick stop at our local Hardee’s—because cooking would only result in cold food, or maybe that’s just my excuse.
