Dear Educator,
As I navigate through the myriad of kindergarten registration forms, I find myself reflecting on you and the pivotal role you will play in my child’s life. This fall, my little one will step into your classroom, marking her transition to what she affectionately refers to as the “big school.” While she is bursting with excitement, I must admit I feel a mix of sadness and apprehension.
Entering kindergarten is a significant milestone. Although it tugs at my heartstrings to see my daughter growing up so quickly, I am also filled with pride and anticipation as she embarks on this new chapter. She will explore her creativity through art and music classes, forge new friendships in our community, and develop self-confidence as she learns from you. These experiences are invaluable.
However, I cannot ignore the worries that accompany this change. It feels as though I’m sending a piece of my heart into the world, unshielded and vulnerable. The thought is overwhelming. I am grateful for your presence in her life and I kindly ask for your understanding in a few areas.
When she says, “Please help you,” she is actually expressing, “Please help me.” We are working on this together. If she refers to her father and me by our first names, please know that we are her loving parents, and it’s just a quirk of hers. If she seems hesitant to ask for a bathroom break, kindly encourage her to go, as I would hate for her to have an accident out of shyness. Even if she is quieter than her peers, she is observant and absorbing everything around her. Please ensure that she isn’t overlooked, and that she has someone to share lunch with; I want her to feel included and supported. Remember, while she may be one of many students, she is my only daughter.
I recognize the challenges you face in your role, and I want to express my sincere appreciation for the crucial work you do. Starting in September, I will be entrusting you with my child’s well-being for over six hours a day. Thank you in advance for nurturing her with kindness and care.
Warm regards,
Mom of Your Future Student
