Get ready, because Poppy and her friends are returning to our screens with a delightful holiday special! Let’s be real; when your kids pull up Trolls on the iPad, you probably can’t resist joining in. I still jam out to “Can’t Stop the Feeling” whenever it plays on the radio. While we eagerly await Trolls 2, which won’t arrive until 2020 (ugh!), DreamWorks is treating us to “Trolls Holiday,” a half-hour animated special scheduled for primetime next week. Anna Kendrick and Justin Timberlake will reprise their roles as the beloved duo, Poppy and Branch.
The Storyline
The storyline sounds fantastic. According to NBC’s press release, “With the Bergens’ one holiday gone, and no longer worried about being eaten, Poppy, the upbeat Troll queen, takes it upon herself to create a new day of celebration for Bergen Town.” She enlists a reluctant Branch and the colorful Snack Pack on her mission to convince her Bergen pals, Bridget and King Gristle Jr., that embracing a new holiday would bring joy. However, Poppy’s enthusiasm for celebrations like Ticklepalooza or Balloon Squeal Day may not be met with the same excitement from the Bergens. Drama unfolds, but with Poppy’s crafty skills, we’re sure she’ll navigate any challenges that arise.
Star-Studded Cast
The best news? The cast remains star-studded! Alongside Kendrick and Timberlake, the original film’s voice talents are returning, featuring Zooey Deschanel as Bridget, Christopher Mintz-Plasse as King Gristle Jr., and more.
