Recently, we unveiled The Mid, a platform designed for those navigating the complexities of life—balancing work, family, and the countless demands on their time while also embracing their prime years. A blend of fun, nostalgia, information, and resources, we’re just at the beginning of our journey.
I’m thrilled to share significant news about my newly established company, Some Spider, which is behind the launch of The Mid.
To strengthen our leadership team, I’ve appointed Alex Turner as our Chief Operating Officer and President. Alex previously led the digital division at a major news organization and has a wealth of experience in digital media. His expertise has been honed over the last decade at what remains one of the nation’s most respected media outlets. Alex is not only smart and competitive but also approachable and down-to-earth—qualities that align with the values we hold at Some Spider as we expand.
As we move forward, Alex will be a crucial collaborator in building our organization and achieving our three core missions:
- To create and grow engaging content and community platforms that inform, inspire, entertain, and support millions of individuals
- To establish a robust operational framework and business model that guarantees lasting commercial viability
- To cultivate a work environment that is enjoyable and fulfilling for our team.
Striking a balance among these objectives can be challenging, as many have cautioned me, yet we are committed to pursuing nothing less. At my previous venture, our guiding principle was “find a way,” and that mindset will drive us here as well.
In line with these aspirations, we recently acquired “Home Insemination Kit,” a delightfully irreverent parenting site that has resonated with countless parents. Last year, I was introduced to its founder, Mia Anderson, and I was thoroughly impressed by what she has achieved with a small team and limited resources. Her entrepreneurial spirit is truly remarkable, and she will continue to lead “Home Insemination Kit” independently, now with enhanced support.
We have more exciting projects in the pipeline, so keep an eye out for our upcoming site, the relaunch of cafe.com, later this year.
