I Can’t Handle Motherhood Today

“I can’t handle being a mom today,” lamented little Emma (also known as Em).
“Olivia won’t stop crying, Jake refuses to use the potty,
Mia’s fever is hitting one-oh-three, oh my!
Our home’s in chaos, laundry spilling over,
And my baby’s got a twitch in her left shoulder!

I spend endless hours at the kitchen sink,
Is it any wonder I’m driven to drink?
The dog’s barking, the children won’t sleep,
I’m holding back tears, it’s all too steep.

I shop for groceries, whip up dinner, too,
And tomorrow, I’ll wake up to do it anew!
Wiping noses and bottoms seems to be my main game,
Kissing boo-boos and putting on band-aids is so lame.

The baby’s always latched on,
Why didn’t I consider a different con?
My kids are demanding, my partner’s quite rude,
Clearly, this explains my less-than-cheerful mood.

Once I had friends, a life full of fun,
Now I’m just a mom to little ones and a big kid’s ‘done.’
Those stubborn five pounds just won’t disappear,
I think I’ve paid my dues, that much is clear.

I’ve got a million pacifiers hidden away,
Too bad hide-and-seek doesn’t make my day.
I spend my cash on diapers and wipes galore,
I’ve earned my stripes, that’s for sure!

Sleep has evaded me for six long years,
But I guess that means I’m in good company with peers.
I haven’t showered and—wait, what’s that you say?
You mention the sitter is coming today?
Oh, I’ll miss these little faces while I’m away!”
