Being a mom is an adventure that brings both joy and chaos every day. While some moments are filled with laughter, many are dominated by the daily grind of parenting tasks that can be downright frustrating. After chatting with fellow parents, it’s clear that life would be a lot smoother if we could skip these tedious chores altogether.

  1. Washing Baby Bottles – Seriously, why are there so many parts? And those brushes that spray water everywhere? I will never take my dishwasher for granted again.
  2. Changing Diapers – This chore is tough at all stages, but it gets even trickier once they start crawling. Chasing them down while trying to keep their limbs under control is a workout.
  3. Putting on Shoes – Getting those little marshmallow feet into tiny shoes is a challenge. I’ve resorted to the twist and shove technique, hoping I don’t break anything.
  4. Trimming Nails – Their tiny, thin nails along with their ninja-level reflexes make this task a real test of patience.
  5. Dressing Them – Shoving wiggly limbs into clothes is about as fun as it sounds.
  6. Feeding Them – After a long performance of airplane sounds to entice them to eat, you often find more food on the floor than in their mouths.
  7. Bath Time – Is this for them or for you? I always end up drenched, and I’m not sure who’s having more fun.
  8. Strapping Them into Car Seats – Between the flailing and the squirming, sometimes I think it’s easier to just stay home.
  9. Cleaning Baby Gear – How does a baby create such a mess? I feel like I need Ghostbusters to tackle the high chair disaster.
  10. Wiping Baby’s Neck – Those adorable neck rolls can hide all sorts of surprises. If you lose a Cheerio, check there first.
  11. Administering Medicine – It’s a battle to get the syringe in their mouth, and when you do, half of it ends up on their face.
  12. Doing Laundry – It never ends. Seriously, it’s a full-time job.
  13. Leaving the House – You might as well pack a suitcase! Expect to be late, especially in winter.
  14. Bedtime Routine – It’s a never-ending cycle of baths, stories, and water. If you’re lucky, they’ll actually sleep after all that.
  15. Cutting Food into Tiny Pieces – Most of it ends up on the floor, in the dog’s mouth, or stuck in the high chair.
  16. Doctors Visits – Why do their symptoms vanish as soon as you arrive? Plus, nobody enjoys shots.
  17. Brushing Their Teeth – They manage to swallow the toothpaste before you can even brush a single tooth, turning your bathroom into a splash zone.
  18. Nose Wiping – Good luck trying to wipe their nose without them acting like you’re attacking them.
  19. Teaching Aiming Skills – For boys, this means a lot of mopping up after “accidents” around the toilet.

As they grow older, the tasks evolve but don’t get any easier:

  1. Helping with Homework – This often leaves me feeling like I’m the one who needs tutoring. Remembering how to do long division was never in my plans.
  2. Brushing Your Daughter’s Hair – How does their hair get so tangled? If you let them manage it, prepare for an even bigger mess.
  3. Chaperoning Field Trips – Managing your own kids is tough enough without adding a whole classroom to the mix.
  4. Being a Taxi Service – The older they get, the more time you spend in the car shuttling them around to activities. Thank goodness for drive-thru coffee!
  5. Answering the “Why?” – “Why?” becomes a mantra that can wear you down, especially when they keep asking more questions.
  6. Monitoring Technology Use – Kids today know their way around devices better than we do. Keeping up can be exhausting.
  7. Worrying – This is the one task that never goes away. We can only hope our parenting choices keep them out of therapy someday.

While a few of these tasks might be manageable, many parents face them daily. Personally, I’m counting down the days until my kids can handle their own bathroom needs—without my assistance.
