It dawned on me that we are in dire need of a new term in the English language—or perhaps in every language: “Never Experienced a Baby Body.” Picture it as a single word, functioning as a noun, pronoun, and adjective, always to be pronounced as one. The moment you say it, a clear image comes to mind. You know exactly the type of body I mean—those that resemble a gangly teenager more than a mother.
This concept struck me when one of my husband’s colleagues, Kelly, arrived at our home to accompany him on a four-hour drive for work. Kelly appeared freshly groomed in a chic outfit, flaunting her Never Experienced a Baby Body (noun), ready to spend the day with my husband. To make matters worse, my youngest was just a few months old, I was still nursing, clinging to pregnancy weight, hadn’t showered, and was wearing a maternity top—the only clean clothing I could find.
Can you picture it? There I was, with my Never Experienced a Baby Body (pronoun), as my husband departed for the day. I decided it was a good idea to wash my hair in anticipation of his return that evening.
Fast forward a few weeks, and I stumbled upon a photo from my honeymoon. I couldn’t help but think, “Who is that stunning woman in the bikini with my husband?” To my surprise, it was just my Never Experienced a Baby Body (noun)—a body that was undeniably attractive at the time but required no effort to maintain. Consequently, I find it hard to hold my former self in high regard.
Now, when I see a mother with an incredible physique, I can’t help but feel deep admiration for her dedication in sculpting her body back into its former shape. Without a personal chef, a demanding trainer, and substantial willpower, I know I’ll never attain my Never Experienced a Baby Body (adjective) again.
And you know what? I’m perfectly fine with that. Ultimately, I have four beautiful children who I wouldn’t trade for my previous Never Experienced a Baby Body (adjective) and an amazing husband who loves me just the way I am.
I would choose my current self over that Never Experienced a Baby Body (noun) any day.

In summary, while the idea of a “Never Experienced a Baby Body” may evoke envy or nostalgia, it ultimately serves as a reminder of the beauty and joy in motherhood that outweighs the pursuit of physical perfection.
