As my time off draws to a close, I find myself grappling with several pressing questions:
- Would starting a crowdfunding campaign for the privilege of being a stay-at-home mom be socially acceptable? Would anyone actually contribute to it?
- When is it deemed appropriate to indulge in a glass of wine during a weekday? Moreover, how does drinking wine throughout the workday while breastfeeding impact my responsibilities?
- How productive can I realistically be with a constantly hungry 2-month-old in tow? Is it inappropriate to join a video call while nursing?
- Is it acceptable to forgo showering and lounge in pajamas all day while balancing a full-time job, caring for an infant, and managing preschool drop-offs and pick-ups?
- Can I function on just four hours of sleep each night, keeping my mind sharp while juggling work, an infant, and preschool responsibilities?
- What are my chances of hitting the lottery jackpot and achieving financial independence?
- How essential is owning a home? Could I manage to sell everything and move in with my parents, allowing me to quit my job and embrace full-time motherhood?
- Would it be unreasonable to sell all my belongings, leave my job, and travel across the USA in an RV with my husband and two kids?
- Is it completely outlandish to sell everything, quit my job, and purchase one-way tickets to Fiji to live there as a stay-at-home mom?
- Can my family and I thrive in a modest dwelling, sacrificing comforts so I can leave my job and focus on being a stay-at-home mom?
- Is it realistic to complete my manuscript in the next four days, submit it to a publisher, and secure a financial windfall that exempts me from returning to work?
- And lastly, the most frustrating question I’ve been wrestling with: Why does America have such inadequate maternity leave policies for working mothers, offering us so little time for such a crucial life transition?
