Most mothers have dedicated what feels like 37 lifetimes to coloring with their little ones. If you’ve ever had the chance to use a crayon that still has a bit of its wrapper intact, you know that kids’ crayons come with adorable names that are straightforward and playful: Brick Red, Spring Green, and Tickle Me Pink.
In contrast, adults often opt for vague color names that sound sophisticated but leave us scratching our heads. A friend recently told me she chose to paint her living room “Braised Mushroom,” and honestly, I can’t picture it. Is it a brownish, pinkish gray? Sounds lovely, right?
It’s time, fellow moms, to indulge in a fresh box of crayons—one just for us. No more coloring with broken pieces that are the size of our fingernails! This is a chance to assign these crayons practical names that we can truly appreciate.
