Lunches Made with Care

While preparing lunch yesterday, I found myself in the kitchen, assembling sandwiches for the kids. My partner, Mark, approached and commented, “You’re not putting much love into those.” I couldn’t help but scoff. “Love? Not really,” I replied, as I quickly spread jelly on several slices of bread, following my usual routine.

Maybe it’s because my children have been consuming the same meals day in and day out for years. Or perhaps it’s the frustration of swapping out ingredients, only to have them return home with empty stomachs and complaints. Mornings often find me bleary-eyed and preoccupied, wishing I could indulge in their peanut butter and jelly instead of my plain Greek yogurt. With a mountain of laundry and a sink overflowing with dirty dishes, my mind is elsewhere. It’s not that I lack love; I express it in countless ways throughout the day.

In all honesty, the lunches I prepare are driven by necessity rather than affection. They may not have that extra sprinkle of love, but I assure you they are just as delicious.

In Summary
