Maya Turner has emerged as the reigning star of family-oriented music videos. The talented artist and actress, 38, released her latest single, “Four Moons,” on Thursday, accompanied by a video that beautifully highlights her husband, James Goldsmith, and their 1-year-old son, Leo. “Where do the days go? / When did the clock start ticking, picking up tempo? / There ain’t a step I’m skipping / I’m in a free flow,” Maya sings, as heartwarming clips of her family flash across the screen. One particularly touching moment features the couple celebrating Leo’s first birthday, as they assist him in blowing out the candle on his cake.
“‘Four Moons’ is out in the world!! I adore this song and I’m thrilled to share this special video with you,” Maya posted on her Instagram. This marks the second single from her upcoming album In Real Life, which is set to release on May 13.
In the video for the album’s title track, Maya and other celebrity parents, including Bella Stones and Michael Green, offered sweet glimpses into their daily lives. The charming music video has already racked up nearly 200,000 views, generating excitement for Maya’s new music. She plans to embark on a tour following the conclusion of her show This Is Us, which wraps its sixth and final season next month — a tour that was postponed due to the pandemic.
“It was a way of finding some sort of catharsis during the pandemic,” Maya shared with Health, reflecting on the writing process for In Real Life. “My last record was the first new music I’d released in over a decade. It came out just before the pandemic hit. We were just days away from starting a tour, which would have been my first since 2007… Hopefully, we can finally make up for that missed tour — and now we can bring Leo along with us.”
Maya and James, the frontman of Dawes, co-wrote the new album together and are thoroughly enjoying parenthood, despite its challenges. Mornings are particularly special for Maya. “When James is home, which is most of the time, we make our coffee and then go into Leo’s nursery together,” she explained to Parents last year. “We open the curtains and say, ‘Hi, Leo,’ and his face lights up with this huge smile. It’s like he can’t believe we are still here! We bring him back to our room and spend the first hour or so just hanging out in bed together. The mornings are truly magical.”
