Meghan Taylor has taken a strong stance against the critics who fail to understand that feeding a baby is what matters most. The pop singer recently shared her experiences regarding breastfeeding on the TODAY show, discussing her transition to bottle feeding.
Challenges of Breastfeeding
During her conversation with host Hoda Kotb, Taylor revealed that her breastfeeding journey was challenging from the outset. After undergoing a C-section, her newborn son was immediately taken to the NICU, complicating her efforts. Despite her thorough research and realistic expectations, the situation proved to be quite daunting.
“I prepared myself by asking, ‘Why is breastfeeding so tough?’ But after my C-section, my body just wasn’t ready to produce milk,” she explained. “I started pumping as soon as I got to my room, but nothing came out.” Many mothers can relate to this stress, which often brings feelings of anxiety and doubt. However, Taylor refused to succumb to these emotions.
Making the Switch
“I had a hard time producing milk,” she stated. “Eventually, I decided to stop.” She expressed pride in her efforts and affirmed that she never felt bad about her decision.
In June, she humorously announced her choice on Instagram, saying, “I’ve been thinking about it a lot and I am done breastfeeding. I’ve turned the faucets off. No more leaking boobs!” Her honesty resonated with fans, who appreciated the message that it’s perfectly acceptable to stop breastfeeding without feeling the need to justify or defend the choice.
“Yes, mama! Do what’s best for both of you,” one fan commented, highlighting the importance of mental and emotional well-being for mothers. “We all deserve support in however we feed our babies,” another added, echoing the need for a more understanding community.
