Get ready for an exciting spring! As we bid farewell to winter and navigate the unpredictable weather across the U.S., there’s a lot to be hopeful about. With the distribution of more COVID-19 vaccines and a new Disney film on the horizon, anticipation is in the air—especially for Cruella.
Fans have been eagerly awaiting this release, especially since Disney has been sharing sneak peeks, including stunning images of Emma Stone transformed into the iconic villain from 101 Dalmatians. The long-anticipated trailer has finally dropped, giving us a glimpse into how Stone embodies Cruella with remarkable flair.
The trailer reveals that the narrative will explore Cruella’s origins before she became the infamous character we know. In the opening scenes, we see her as a seemingly ordinary girl with striking red hair. Through a voiceover, she shares, “From the very beginning, I realized that I saw the world differently than everyone else. That didn’t sit well with some people, but I wasn’t for everyone. I guess they were always scared that I’d be a psycho.” This hints at the darker tendencies that would eventually lead her down a notorious path.
The trailer showcases a dramatic ball scene where Cruella makes a stunning entrance by igniting her cloak, unveiling a bold red dress and her signature black-and-white hair—a truly memorable reveal that aligns with her character’s dramatic flair.
Dalmatians are present, of course, and they don’t seem to take kindly to Cruella. There’s a particularly thrilling moment where Stone’s Cruella is seen driving recklessly, evoking nostalgia for the classic 101 Dalmatians animated film. It’s clear that Stone is set to deliver a captivating performance.
Although the trailer leaves some questions about Cruella’s transformation unanswered, it concludes with an intriguing shot of a burning London, hinting at possible chaos tied to her character. We’ll need to watch the film to uncover the full story, and you can bet we’ll be among the first to catch it when Cruella premieres on Disney Plus on May 21.
