My Grumpy Christmas Wishlist — Because I Want Stuff

Alright, listen up, folks. Here’s my list, and yeah, it’s a bit spicy. But you know what? If it ruffles a few feathers, that’s just a bonus! This year, I’m laying it all out with my Grumpy Christmas Wishlist, and it’s going to be a bit colorful. You’ve been warned!

So, what do I want? Just five little things. In this world where excess reigns, I’m keeping it simple, yet it’s not even about physical items!

1. A Spotless Home

This little gem made the cut last year too—and it’s still relevant. Seriously, I dream of a pristine home that I didn’t lift a finger to clean. I don’t care if it’s done by a crew of cranky elves; just get it done! Family, listen up: clean the damn house, and you’ve ticked off the only gift I want. Plus, when the cleaning duty falls on someone else, it suddenly turns into a top priority. Who would’ve thought?

2. A Trash Can That Empties Itself

Now, this isn’t merely about a tidy home. This is a whole new level of magic! I’m tired of being the one who has to do it all. I want a little fairy dust to take over mundane chores like taking out the trash, washing dishes, or moving laundry. If someone else could handle those never-ending tasks, maybe I could even find some of my own magic again.

3. An End to the Gaslighting

Hold on, before you freak out, I’m not talking about my family. We’re good! But seriously, in society, the gaslighting is unreal—especially during the holidays! “It’s not about the gifts!” (Except, let’s get up at the crack of dawn for those post-Thanksgiving sales!) The mixed messages are overwhelming, right? We barely scratch the surface of this issue in conversations, and yet we’re told we’re overreacting. As we approach 2024, can we just take a moment to listen to one another? Recognizing that everyone has their own feelings isn’t asking too much!

4. A Little Respect

Alright, Glenda, don’t get too worked up. This one goes beyond my own desires. Can we please show some basic respect for one another? If you don’t like something, just look away. For those who can’t handle differences, maybe just zip it? For the rest of us, let’s engage in dialogue and share experiences. I’ve realized there’s so much I still don’t know about various cultures, even after traveling! Embracing diversity enriches our lives, and honestly, it’s a gift to ourselves too.

5. A Genuine Thank You

Okay, back to my personal wants. I crave a real “thank you”—not just a note or some generic gesture. I want my partner, kids, or a random stranger to pause mid-task, look me in the eyes, and sincerely express gratitude. It’s so easy to get caught up in the chaos this time of year, rushing to parties and buying gifts that will likely gather dust. So if you see me this season, just a simple “thank you” will do. Maybe a glass of wine wouldn’t hurt either!

So there you have it—my grumpy Christmas wishlist. You might love it or hate it, but this year, my focus is on uplifting others. I’m done with the cycle that claims it’s not about the presents while simultaneously glorifying the most extravagant displays. Let’s break free from that!

And don’t forget, I still wouldn’t mind a little help with cleaning my house or a trash can that magically empties itself. Is that too much to ask?

Summary:

This year, my Christmas wishlist emphasizes the importance of a clean home, the need for genuine appreciation, and a call for respect and acknowledgment in society. It’s time to break from the superficiality of the season and focus on meaningful connections.
