Talbots, the well-known women’s apparel brand, has recently unveiled an empowering campaign titled #BecauseImALady, and we couldn’t be more thrilled about their message. With a workforce that’s 92% women, Talbots is boldly redefining what it means to be a modern lady and aims to “politely set the record straight.” About time, right?

Deborah Sinclair, Talbots’ Senior Vice President of Marketing, shared with Adweek, “We aimed to shed light on the evolving definition of what it means to be a lady in today’s world. Indeed, it’s 2017—there’s no need to apologize for being a woman or for reshaping the concept of what a lady truly is. If someone labels us as “bossy,” we should take it as a badge of honor; it reflects our strong leadership qualities and clarity of purpose. Women shouldn’t feel compelled to downplay their ability to take charge and orchestrate change—qualities that, let’s be honest, no man would ever apologize for.
