In a shocking turn of events, junior enlisted corpsmen at Naval Hospital Jacksonville have found themselves at the center of a social media storm after inappropriate images surfaced online. These photos depict hospital employees flipping off newborns and even attempting to make them “dance.”
A concerned Facebook user stumbled upon the images on Snapchat and shared them, triggering a viral reaction with over 200,000 shares. Among the four publicly shared images, one shows a woman giving a rude gesture to a newborn, accompanied by the caption, “How I currently feel about these mini-Satans.” In another, a corpsman is seen holding a newborn aloft, trying to make the baby “dance” to music.
Upon learning of the incident, the hospital quickly issued a statement on their Facebook page: “We have identified the staff members involved. They have been removed from patient care and will face legal and military consequences. We have also reached out to the parents of the affected infants.”
News outlet Action News Jax obtained a video of one corpsman making a newborn “dance,” which has left many infuriated. The behavior displayed in these clips has been widely condemned on social media, with many parents expressing horror at the thought of such actions occurring with their children. How could anyone be so reckless, especially in a professional setting?
A full statement from the hospital clarified, “We are aware of the inappropriate video and photos and can confirm they are hospital corpsmen, not nurses. While we cannot disclose their identities due to the ongoing investigation, they have been removed from any patient care duties. We’re also engaging with patients to address their concerns. This behavior is utterly incompatible with the Navy’s core values of honor, courage, and commitment, as well as medical ethics. An investigation is currently underway, and appropriate actions will follow.”
