Ah, fall is here! The kids are back in school, and we can finally bid farewell to the sweltering days of summer. It’s the perfect time to don your coziest sweater, grab a pumpkin-spiced treat, and settle in on the couch. With our beloved shows returning, we can enjoy guilt-free relaxation as the days get shorter and darker. Just a heads up—there might be some spoilers ahead.
This Is Us
When we last saw the Pearsons, our hearts were heavy with the revelation of Randall’s biological father’s passing. We were left on the edge of our seats, wondering if Kevin would follow his heart or his career, and what the future held for Jack and Rebecca. Mark your calendars for September 26, when the series returns with insights into Jack’s tragic end—though we may want to temper our expectations.
Will & Grace
After an 11-year break, Will & Grace is making a triumphant return on September 28. It’s like stepping back into 2006, almost! The iconic apartment looks as familiar as ever, and the entire cast is back, including Harry Connick Jr. and Minnie Driver. Plus, there’s no need to worry about getting attached only to see it vanish again; the show has already been renewed for a second season!
Stranger Things
Our favorite group of kids is returning, and we can hardly wait to be thrilled (and terrified) by the eerie happenings in this supernatural series. Season 1 left us with so many burning questions—what’s really happening in the Upside Down? What experiments are taking place at Hawkins Laboratory? And where is Eleven? Season 2 is set to return on October 27, and it promises to answer some of our biggest queries.
Black-ish
Following the Johnson family as they navigate life in a mostly white neighborhood, Black-ish tackles cultural identity, white privilege, and even political themes with sharp humor. Dre Johnson’s poignant remark about loving his country despite its flaws resonates deeply. Season 4 will premiere on October 3, and we anticipate it will continue to be as insightful and side-splitting as ever.
The Crown
This series offers a captivating look into Queen Elizabeth’s life beyond her well-known public persona. It explores her relationship with Prince Philip, her father’s passing, and her ascent to the throne. I must confess I haven’t seen it yet, but it’s on my watchlist. The blend of royal intrigue, romance, and politics is simply too alluring to resist. You can catch Season 1 on Netflix now, and Season 2 will be available in December 2017.
Ozark
With Jason Bateman and Laura Linney at the helm, Ozark tells the story of a family that relocates to the Missouri Ozarks after a drug cartel deal goes wrong. The first episode is undeniably dark and somber, but you won’t be able to look away. The gripping narrative has already earned it a second season, so you know it’s worth the watch.
Friends From College
I might have a slight crush on Fred Savage from his Wonder Years days, but this show is about much more than just him. Starring Keegan-Michael Key, it expertly combines humor and clever writing. The series revolves around a group of college pals who face their share of jealousies and secrets. Season 1 debuted on Netflix this summer and has already been renewed for a second season—thank goodness!
So, tuck the kids in early tonight, silence your phone, and make some time for your couch. A wealth of superb television is waiting for you!
