Tina Robinson experienced unexpected contractions on August 5th, even though her son, Leo, was not scheduled to arrive until October 18th. “I was just 29 weeks and 4 days pregnant, so I assumed these were Braxton Hicks contractions and decided to hold off,” Robinson recounted on her Instagram. However, after 45 minutes of increasingly intense contractions, she decided it was time to head to the hospital.
During the 15-minute drive, Robinson and her partner, Mark, dropped off their five-year-old daughter, Mia, at her godmother’s house. “We dropped her off just six minutes before Leo made his entrance,” Robinson told Home Insemination Kit.
As they drove, the contractions intensified, and Robinson realized she needed to push. “I called 911 because I was terrified,” she explained. “The operator couldn’t understand me through the contractions, so I handed the phone to Mark. In the meantime, I reached down and felt Leo’s head already there.”
With one push, her “miracle baby” arrived. Although Leo was born prematurely, Robinson remained calm as he was still protected in his sac. “I knew that if he hadn’t been born en caul, he might not have survived, as his lungs weren’t developed enough for him to breathe independently,” she said.
The couple continued on to the hospital, with Robinson praying for her son’s well-being. “I rubbed his little face, and he instinctively pulled his hands and feet up as if to say, ‘I’m okay,’” she shared on Instagram.
They finally reached the hospital seven minutes later, where medical staff quickly took Leo to the NICU for evaluation. “He weighed just 3 lbs 1 oz,” Robinson noted. “Considering everything, he’s doing wonderfully.”
Having been induced at 39 weeks with Mia, Leo’s early arrival was a complete surprise. “He’s making amazing progress,” she added. “Still in the NICU, but every day is a step forward.”
