A woman recently shared images of a desiccated fish she stumbled upon in her vehicle, and while it’s undeniably bizarre, moms everywhere are rolling their eyes because, let’s be honest, we’ve seen weirder things. Once you enter the realm of parenthood, the strange and gross become everyday occurrences.
This particular incident went viral, leaving many scratching their heads. “A fish. A freakin’ fish! In my passenger seat cushions!” the woman exclaimed, as reported by an online outlet. “HOW DID THIS EVEN HAPPEN? I LOCK MY DOORS. I HAVEN’T EVEN BEEN NEAR A LAKE SINCE I GOT THIS CAR. HOW ON EARTH DID A FISH END UP IN MY CAR?”
Meanwhile, moms everywhere are nodding along and asking, “Do you have kids?” Because let’s face it, that would explain the presence of any odd, foreign, or downright gross item in unexpected places.
As seasoned parents, we’ve encountered it all. The depths of our handbags often resemble a science experiment gone wrong, and our cell phones? Well, they might as well be petri dishes after our kids have been playing with them. Cleaning out our vehicles usually requires a Hazmat suit, so forgive us if we find a dried fish unsettling but not entirely shocking.
On any given day, we’re likely to discover long-lost sippy cups rolling around under the driver’s seat, milk curdled into an unrecognizable state. We’ve found petrified snacks and, on occasion, even stray turds lurking beneath our little ones’ car seats. Heck, there are times when we’ve cleaned up actual messes from the walls of our homes!
For any parent, reaching into a purse or diaper bag can be an adventure in itself—expecting the unexpected, to say the least. Ask any of us to share the weirdest thing we’ve encountered in an unusual location, and you’ll hear a range of tales that could fill a book. Personally, I once found chewed-up chunks of hot dog that my child had dropped into my shoe during a family gathering. Totally normal, right?
And I know I’m not alone in this. There’s that dirty diaper we all secretly dread finding. Who hasn’t been there, am I right?
Bribe M&M’s are a staple in every mom’s purse, just waiting to be discovered at the bottom when you need them most. And yes, the gross stuff in the car? We’ve definitely been there, too.
