The plan was to compile a photobook of all of Lily’s portrayals to present to Grandma after her treatment. This thoughtful gift not only uplifted her grandmother’s spirits but also helped both Lily and Sarah navigate the emotional challenges of Grandma’s health journey. “The entire endeavor was a blessing for both of us,” Sarah reflects. “Presenting the final product to my mom was priceless. Every moment spent planning, styling, shooting, and editing was absolutely worthwhile.”
The best part? Grandma is now cancer-free and naturally, Lily had to recreate a look inspired by her personal hero.
What started as a way to cope with a serious diagnosis transformed into a much larger project for this mother-daughter duo. Sarah notes that she has learned just as much, if not more, than Lily through this experience. “I want Lily to look back on this and know that women are just as strong as men,” she shares. Sarah hopes that in the future, all women will be recognized for their strength and power, just like the icons Lily dresses as. “I genuinely hope that by the time she understands the strength she is portraying, women will no longer be seen as delicate and dainty. I want her to feel proud of who she is and who she will become.”
